THE LORD'S SUPPER

This is our weekly service completely devoted to worship. Our primary intent this hour is to share in giving praise and worship to God, the Father, and our Savior, Jesus Christ. We especially foucs on our Lord Jesus Christ whose sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10,17,18) for our sins makes it possible for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God (Colossians 1:19-22 & Romans 5:8-10).

During this service we observe the Lords Supper (also referred to in the Bible as "Communion", "Breaking of Bread", and the "Remembrance of the Lord"). This is our response to the request of the Lord Jesus, "Do this in remembrance of Me" (I Corinthians 11:24,25).

The loaf of bread symbolizes the Lord's body given for us (Luke 22:19), as well as our common fellowship in the body of Christ, that is, His Church (I Corinthians 10:16,17). The cup is the symbol of Christ's blood shed for us, the basis for God's New Covenant (Mathew 26:27,28). In this way, we remember our risen Lord until He comes again (I Corinthians 11:26).

No one will direct or officiate at this meeting. There is no prescribed ceremony or ritual to which we adhere. Various men in the meeting will participate as they are led by the Holy Spririt. Some will suggest hymns for congregational singing; others may or teach from scripture text or pray as an expression of gratitude to the Lord. There will be also be times of silent meditation and worship as we reflect on the person and work of Christ.

A brother will give thanks for the Bread and the Cup, even as Jesus gave thanks when He established the Lord's supper. As the Bread and the Cup are passed through the congregation, each participant will take a piece from the loaf, eat it and pass the tray. Similarly each will drink from one of the cups, replace it in the tray and pass it on.

Everyone who is a born again believer in Christ, trusting in Him for eternal salvation, is encouraged to eat and drink in celebration of our risen Savior's death for us. Those who are not yet born again believers in Christ, or who do not wish to participate, should simply pass the tray along.

An offering will be received after the communion. This too is is an act of worship. We return to God a portion of His overwhelming provision to us. As a visitor please do not feel any obligation to give.

There is a marked simplicity in this service. We desire a sincere, honest and joyful expression of praise and worship to our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. As we worship the Lord, we are drawn closer to Him. We pray that you too will be drawn closer to our Lord.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to enquire.
